How to Use Reusable Piping Bags?

Reusable piping bags are the future. Not only are they much better for the environment, and washable, but they also don’t tear as easily, and you’ll find most bakers tend to prefer a good quality reusable piping bag.

  1. When you’ve finished mixing your icing, and are ready to fill your piping bag, use a tall glass stabilise your bag as you fill it. Simply fold the ends of the back over the sides, fill, and uncuff and you’re ready to go. You’ll also have a great holder ready for when you need to take breaks between icing.
  2. Make sure you twist or clip the end of your piping bag and put pressure on the icing. That way you will only have to gently squeeze on your reusable piping bag as you ice your cakes.
  3. Hold the piping bag with your dominate hand and direct it with the other. Take your time piping if you’re trying out a new design.
  4. To clean your reusable piping bag, turn it inside out and handwash them or throw them on the top level of the dishwasher (if they are dishwasher safe).

Top tip: If you plan to use multiple icing tips with the same colour icing, get a tip coupler, which allows you to switch tips as you ice without having to make up a new bag.
