How to Get a Cake Out of a Cake Tin

Is your cake stuck in the cake tin? There’s something especially disheartening about going to the effort of baking and then having your cake crumble to pieces when trying to remove it from the tin.

But with a few simple tricks you can keep that from happening, as we show you how to get a cake out of a cake tin in one piece.

  1. Wait until your cake is fully cooled before removing it, this may take 2-3 hours.
  2. Run a butter knife or a palette knife around the inside edges of the cake tin.
  3. Get a cooling rack.
  4. Pop a clean tea towel over the tin, put your hand on top of the cake and turn it upside down onto the cooling rack.
The cake should come of its own accord, but if it doesn’t, a few gentle taps on the base of tin should release it.
