Ingredients

  • 1 box Betty Crocker Chocolate Fudge Brownie Mix
  • 40 ml vegetable oil
  • 75 ml water
  • 1 medium free range egg
  • zest of 1 orange
  • 100 g (we used liquorice allsorts, dolly mixtures, flying saucers, rainbow chocolates, liquorice wheels, milk bottles, cola bottles)
  • 50 g dark chocolate
  • 15 g butter
  • 2 tbsp golden syrup
  • zest of 1 orange

Utensils

  • 20x30cm greased and lined tin
  • Large bowl
  • Zester
  • Spatula
  • Small microwaveable bowl

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C, 160C fan, gas 4.
  2. Mixthe egg, water, oil and brownie mix together until well blended (mixture may be lumpy). Fold through the zest of 1 orange and the chocolate pieces.
  3. Spreadthe mixture evenly into the greased and lined rectangular tin.
  4. Bakein the centre of the oven for around 20-25 minutes or until a rounded knife, inserted 5cm (2") from the edge of the tin comes out almost clean. Allow to cool on a wire rack.
  5. Meanwhileplace the chocolate, butter and golden syrup into a microwaveable bowl. Cook in the microwave on 600W for 30 seconds. Stir and continue cooking for another 30 seconds. You should now have a melted sauce. Stir through half of the orange zest.
  6. Drizzle the chocolate sauce over the brownies and garnish with the remaining orange zest. Chill in the fridge for 15 minutes to set the chocolate then slice to serve.
